LS100
LANDS Superabrasives supplies a carefully engineered resin bond synthetic diamond, having a relatively high G-ratio*. The basic product LS100 is designed to be self-sharpening during the life of the tool. These properties allow the user to obtain extended tool life with good cost effectiveness.

PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS

  • LS100
is an uncoated diamond for use in resin bonds.
Its high friability ensures controlled breakdown of the crystals. Small fragments will break away and the exposure of new cutting edges during operation allows continuous cutting action. This is due to the specific growth process of the LS100-crystal, which generates the fractured and slice-like structure. Strong bond retention results from its irregular shape and rough surface area.

  • LS120
an improved black-ish crystal, more blocky than the LS100, yet still with high cutting action characteristics.

  • LS110
the strongest crystal in this series; with the right - hardened resin- bond it is an extremely competitive product, developed to be used in today's grinding technology

APPLICATIONS

Resin bond tools with synthetic diamond types in the 100-series are designed for the wet and dry grinding of cemented carbides, carbide-steel combinations, diamond and CBN-compact tools, as well as a variety of other hard materials.

The cladded products have superior bond retention, and an improved thermal conductivity, protecting the bond against thermal degradation.

METAL CLADDED DIAMOND

  • LS103N/LS113N/LS103Ag
The LS100/110-type crystal is coated with a reduced nickel or silver base alloy, for use where burning of carbide/steel workpieces has to be reduced in certain dry grinding operations. The cladding represents 30% of the total weight. This product has its place between the cutting LS100 and the performing LS105N.

  • LS105N/LS115N/LS105Ag
this product is the LS100/110 with a 56% coating of high nickel or silver alloy. This coating provides an excellent bond retention and generates a better performing processing of cemented carbide or hardenable carbide alloys. It is the best product available featuring the best price/quality ratio to the tool maker.

  • LS105C/LS115C
is the LS100/110 coated with a copper base alloy. The metal represents 50% of the total weight of the product. The copper increases the thermal conductivity and makes the LSI05C most suitable for use in the dry grinding of cemented carbides.
  • LS126N
the crystal of this material is more blocky, more regular and tougher compared to the LS100, but still is designed to give a good bond retention in resin bonds. It is always supplied with a nickel coating of 60% of the total weight. The product is recommended for processing workpieces containing more than 20-30% steel, in order to reduce burning on the workpiece and to lower power requirements.

AVAILABILITY

The LS100-series, including both coated and uncoated types, is available in all sizes from 60 down to 500 US Mesh (FEPA D251 to D35). Other customized special size ranges can be supplied upon request. LS120 is available from 80 down to 500 US Mesh.
